“Since my assault happened, I’ve realized no one has answers. People can care and offer their support, but at the end of the day I’m the one who has to deal with the aftermath of what occurred. And no one will ever really grasp exactly how I’m feeling, no one will ever really know the complications of my relationship with my assaulter and how that’s impacted my everyday life.

I made a private playlist on my Spotify of songs that make me feel understood. It’s called “the stuff no one knows how to deal with.” On days when I break down and feel like I can’t go on, I listen to it and feel a sense of solidarity with myself.” –Haley, 19
